Peer consultants for Prague

Project full name:

EDUCATION AND TRAINING OF MENTAL HEALTH CARE CONSUMERS FOR PEER CONSULTANT POSITION

The project contains selection of 10 suitable candidates for the position of a peer consultant, their theoretical preparation (educational course for peer consultants; shadowing of peer consultant during a one-week study stay with an organization where a peer consultant has been successfully involved) and practical preparation in the form of a 7-month professional paid-for training with mental health care providers in Prague. To help the candidates successfully complete the training, the project will provide continuous methodological support via supervisions and joint meetings of the peer consultants and the training providers. Each training will be concluded by qualitative and quantitative assessment, which will result in a proposal of further professional education for the individual peer consultant.

Project goals:
  • education and training of 10 mental health care consumers to qualify for the position of a peer consultant;
  • arrangement of paid-for professional trainings with mental health care providers for 7 successful course graduates;
  • assessment of the trainings and proposals of individualised further education plans to help the peer consultants stay on the labour market.
Time frame: 1 January 2015 – 31 October 2015
