Supporting transformation and community services for people with mental disorders and people with learning difficulties in Moldova

Centre for mental health care development in cooperation with the local partner People in Need Molodova, has been working in Moldova since 2015 thanks to the project activities focused on the process of deinstitutionalisation of institutions for the people with mental disorders and with learning difficulties.
Our goals in Moldova are moving clients of institutions to the protected housing, providing them with the quality services and integration them into the society.  At the same time we fight with stigmata of mental disorders, we introduce new positions of so-called peer ambassadors who will report on their disability among the public or at schools. We provide local experts with experience from the Czech environment thanks to the Czech experts in supervision, methodological support, and transformation system from the legislative point of view. 











Activities:
  • Methodological support and supervision for protected housing asistants
  • Educational activities for the National Agency for Social Asistance workers
  • Education of the specialists in the field of mental illness recovery, overcoming barriers in social inclusion of the mentally ill persons
  • Special visits to the institutions by the trained experts and working the reports of the recommendatio
  • ns for moving the mentally disordered people into protected housing
  • Providing consultations to the institutions staff regarding working with people with mental disorders
  • Working out the concept of community service for mentally disabled within the transformation of the institutions
  • Selection and training of the peer ambassadors, who lead workshops for students and public about their personal stories and recovery ways
  • Producing destigmatization leaflets and video spots focused on the overcoming prejudice about people with mental disorders
  • Producing methodological materials for protected housing and transformation of social care institutions
